Carrying Wroxton Forward: Honoring What It Has Been, Building What It Will Be
Some places are fleeting. Others become part of you. Wroxton is one of those places.
Long after you leave, it stays with you. Not only as a memory, but as a feeling. The feeling of arriving at the Abbey for the first time. The scale of it. The quiet of the grounds. The sense that you were standing in front of something much larger than yourself, while also standing at the edge of something that was about to become deeply personal.
From the Dean: Happy 250th Birthday!
Firstly, let me wish everyone a very happy birthday, even if the noise one can hear when I write that is Lord North spinning in his grave!
We are having a very busy spring/summer here at the College what with a total of some sixteen different groups/programs taking place during the mid-May to mid-August period.
Student Spotlight: A Week at Wroxton
Amara Stewart is no stranger to Wroxton. She attended Wroxton this past summer for the Honors program and she undertook a teaching placement at a local primary school this past January. Not only that, she’s also just completed a 15 week Spring semester here at the College.
Here Amara talks us through a typical week at Wroxton.
Celebrating the Semiquincentennial
2026 is a year of celebration. We are celebrating the future of the College under our new alumni-led ownership, but we are also marking a significant milestone in US/ UK relations – 250 years of US independence.
The Wroxton Village Fete
A fete is a staple tradition in villages across the length and breadth of Britain. The Wroxton village fete has been running for more years than people can remember. A fete is a public festival, a real community gathering with stalls, bric-a-brac, a raffle, teas and cakes, Morris dancing, activities for the children and a whole raft of games.
From the Dean: A Season of Momentum at the Abbey
It has been a dynamic start to the year at the Abbey, with visiting scholars, a full Spring Semester underway, and a wide range of academic programs already in motion. With international travel, immersive coursework, and a busy season ahead, Wroxton continues to thrive.
Wroxton Living History: From the Abbey to the American Revolution
Long before the American colonies declared independence, their fate was tied to a man raised at Wroxton Abbey. Lord North’s life connects this quiet English estate to one of the most consequential conflicts in modern history.
Alumni Spotlight: A Summer That Became a Lifelong Calling
Stephanie Dalianis-Antell (Summer 2001) came to Wroxton while pursuing her master’s in English — and left with an experience that reshaped how she saw literature, culture, and scholarship. Studying at the Shakespeare Institute through Wroxton College and living at the Abbey brought texts to life in ways the classroom alone never could. Today, as a PhD in Modern Literature, she still calls Wroxton a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Alumni Spotlight: Personal Journeys after Wroxton
Steve Romanoff first arrived at Wroxton College in the Spring of 1968 — a semester that shaped him so deeply he later returned not once, but six times as a faculty member, bringing more than 90 students to experience the Abbey for themselves.
Inside the Abbey: Lifelong Commitment to Wroxton
Robert Denton has been a part of Wroxton for over 60 years, working as the College groundsman. He is also know for his exceptional carvings, most notably for his walking sticks and handcarved spoons.
Windows to Wroxton’s History: The Library
My first sight of the library was from outside looking in. It was a gloriously sunny day, and I was visiting Wroxton with my parents. None of us knew the Abbey was here or that it was the home of Wroxton College. We’d more or less stumbled across the College on a walk through the village. With my face pressed up against the window, I could see the tables, the desks, and the endless rows of books.
Inside the Abbey: Academic Excellence at Wroxton
Dr. Angela Morris has been part of Wroxton for three decades, teaching courses that explore social policy, women and race in modern Britain, and Britain in the modern era. Known for her warmth and dedication, she continues to inspire generations of students with both her teaching and her perspective on the Wroxton experience.
